How do I verify my tracking works with test events?
Click Send test event in the "Live events" card, watch the status flip to Receiving events, then confirm a real pageview with Live Tagging — only then trust the numbers.
Before you start
- A workspace with the Attribution module active.
- The Decisa pixel installed on at least one page of your site (see "How do I install the pixel?").
- The exact URL of a page where the pixel runs, for the live check.
Steps
Open the Custom Site integration
Go to Sidebar → Integrations → Custom Site and move to the last step of the setup wizard, where you choose how conversions are tracked. With the server-to-server option selected, the Live events card appears at the bottom of the page.
Send test event
Click Send test event. Decisa creates a synthetic click and conversion in your workspace and confirms with: "Test click + conversion delivered. Check the list below." Within a few seconds the status pill changes from Waiting to Receiving events and the test click shows up in the list.
Confirm a real pageview with Live Tagging
A test event proves Decisa can receive data — it does not prove your site is sending any. Open Sidebar → Attribution → Live Tagging, paste the URL of a page where your pixel is installed, and open it in test mode. Decisa waits for your pixel to report from that page, then streams the arriving events live, including delivery per destination.
Cross-check Clicks and Conversions
Open Sidebar → Attribution → Clicks and Sidebar → Attribution → Conversions. Your test click and test conversion should both be listed there.
What happens next
- The "Live events" card shows the last five clicks captured by your pixel and refreshes automatically — no need to reload the page.
- The status pill reads Receiving events while events arrived in the last minute, and falls back to Waiting when the stream goes quiet.
- Once both the test event and a real pageview have landed, clicks and conversions start feeding the ROAS report. That is the moment the data is trustworthy.
Gotchas
A successful test event is not proof your site is tracking. The test is sent by Decisa itself, so it works even when the snippet was never installed. The symptom: the test appears, but real visits never do. The correct move: run the Live Tagging check on a real page before trusting any report.
Still seeing "Waiting for first event" after visiting your own site? Expand
"Not seeing events?" under the empty list: confirm the snippet is live by
searching your page source for pixel.js, and retry in a normal browser
window — ad blockers and strict privacy modes can block the pixel request.
