How do I record ad spend manually?
Open Ad Spend in the Attribution menu and log how much you spent per day, source, and campaign — Decisa pairs each entry with the matching rows in your ROAS report, so ROAS works even before you connect an ad platform.
Before you start
- A workspace with the Attribution module active.
- ROAS needs both sides of the math: revenue comes from your tracked orders, Spend comes from these entries (or, later, from a connected ad platform). No spend recorded means no ROAS.
- Know the exact
utm_sourceandutm_campaignvalues your ads use — the pairing depends on them.
Steps
Open Ad Spend
Use Sidebar → Attribution → Ad Spend. The page is titled Ad spend, and the form card is called Add an entry.
Fill in Day and Amount
Pick the Day the money was spent and enter the Amount (for example, 125.50). Choose the currency next to the amount — it defaults to USD, so switch it if your ad account bills in another currency.
Pair it with Source and Campaign
Fill Source, Medium (optional), and Campaign with the same values your UTM links use — for example, source
googleand campaignsummer_launch. These values are how the entry finds its row in the ROAS report.Save spend
Click Save spend. You'll see an Ad spend saved confirmation, and the amount field clears so you can log the next day or campaign without retyping everything.
What happens next
- Your entries feed the Spend column of the ROAS report (Sidebar → Attribution → Overview), and ROAS is calculated as tracked revenue divided by that spend.
- The page explains this under How this is used: when ad-platform connections arrive, automatic syncs will take over — but your manual entries are preserved as the source for past dates.
Gotchas
Pairing is exact-match. Spend is matched to revenue by the source / campaign values you type. If your clicks arrive with utm_source=google but you log spend under Google or google-ads, the ROAS report shows the revenue on one row and the spend on another — and ROAS looks wrong on both. Copy the values straight from your UTM links.
Entries update, they don't add up. As the form says: "Spend is keyed by day + source + campaign. Re-submitting the same key updates the existing total." Saving 80 and then 50 for the same day and campaign leaves 50, not 130. To log extra spend for the same day, enter the new full total for that day.
Negative amounts are rejected — if you mistyped, just re-submit the same Day, Source, and Campaign with the correct total and it replaces the old value.
